NGC 1664 Kite Cluster in Auriga

This open cluster forms an asterism, in the shape of a kite. The head of the kite is upper left, with the tail trailing to the lower right. This comparatively young cluster is around 85 lightyears in diameter and 4200 lightyears distant.

This image is the result of 1h of RGB data capture from Horsham, on an evening in November 2025. A ZWO ASI2600MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
