Messier 41 in Canis Major

This open cluster south of Sirius is around 2300 lightyears distant and approx 25 lightyears across. It contains around 100 stars and is estimated to be 190 million years old.

This image is the result of 1h 12m of remote data capture from New Mexico, on an evening in January 2022. A Planewave 20-inch CDK reflector was used, with an FLI ProLine PL11002M CCD camera.
