NGC 247 in Cetus

This barred spiral galaxy is around 11 million lightyears distant, and smaller than our own galaxy, at 70,000 lightyears in diameter. There is no central bulge, but a small compact core. It is unusual in having a large void on one side, with only older, redder stars.

This image is the result of 2h 30m of remote data capture from New Mexico, over three evenings in November and December 2021. A Planewave 20-inch CDK reflector was used, with an FLI ProLine PL11002M CCD camera.
