NGC 1931 is a reflection and emission nebula surrounding a young star cluster. As with the Orion Nebula, there is a small trapezium of hot young stars, seen in the lower left of the nebula in this image.
It is estimated to be around 2 million years old and 7500 lightyears distant.
This HaRGB image is the result of just over 2h of RGB and 5h of hydrogen-alpha data capture from Horsham, over five evenings in January and February 2025. A ZWO ASI2600 MM Pro camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
