Sh2-188 Shrimp Nebula in Cassiopeia

This dim planetary nebula is around 850 lightyears distant and approximately 22,000 years old. It is asymmetrical with a brighter shock-wave because the central remnant star is moving in that direction.

This image is the result of 6h15m of narrowband (Ha and OIII) remote data capture from Utah, over five evenings in December 2023 and January 2024. A 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI PL16803 camera were used.
