StDR 140 in Gemini

This planetary nebula, also known as Lori’s Nebula, was only discovered in October 2021 by Marcel Drechsler and Xavier Strottner. It is estimated to be around 4250 lightyears distant. This is probably the faintest object that I have ever imaged and it would have needed four times the data capture time, to reveal it properly.

This RGBHSO image is the result of just over 18h of data capture, through RGB, Hydrogen-alpha and Oxygen-III filters. This took place over 7 evenings over February to April 2023.

A ZWO ASI2600MM Pro monochrome camera was used, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien Cassegrain reflector, from Horsham.
