NGC 7793 in Sculptor

This flocculent spiral galaxy, with only a small central bulge, is around 12 million lightyears distant. The arms are loose and disorganised and peppered with clouds of reddish hydrogen-alpha emission.
The galaxy is less than a third of the size of ours, with a diameter of 32,000 lightyears.

This LRGBHa image is the result of 1h30m of remote data capture from New South Wales, on an evening in October 2022, using a 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI Proline PL 16803 camera.
