NGC 7000 North America Nebula in Cygnus

The North America Nebula is around 2200 lightyears distant, these images showing the 'Central America' part of the nebula, otherwise known as 'The Wall'. To give some idea of scale, these images cover around 35 lightyears from top to bottom.

They are the result of 7h of narrowband data capture, over five evenings in August and October 2022. This consisted of 3h through hydrogen-alpha and 4h through Oxygen-III filters.

The result is three very different images, with different mapping of the narrowbands to RGB. The image on the left is the most realistic, with Ha mapped to red and OIII to blue. The image at far right uses a Hubble palette, with Ha mapped to green.

A ZWO ASI2600MM Pro camera was used through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector, from Horsham.
