Messier 109 in Ursa Major

This classic barred spiral galaxy is approximately 85 million lightyears distant. It is large at 180,000 lightyears in diameter, compared with the size of our own galaxy at 100,000 lightyears.

This LRGB image is the result of 2.5h of data capture over 2 evenings in January 2022, taken using a ZWO 2600MM Pro cooled mono camera, through an 8-inch Teleskop-Service Ritchey-Chretien reflector.
