Orion's Belt

The three bright Orion belt stars are along the top of this image, from left-to-right being Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. Above Alnitak is the Flame Nebula, while the inverted Horsehead Nebula is below it to the left.

The Great Nebula Messier 42 is towards the bottom left of the image, with the Running Man Nebula (NGC 1977) above and to the right of M42. More generally, the hydrogen emission nebulosity is found extensively across the whole area.

This LRGBHa image is the result of 84 minutes of remote data capture from Chile, on an evening in December 2021. A ZWO 1600MM camera was used, through a 135mm Samyang lens.
