NGC 3621 in Hydra

This galaxy with loosely-wound spiral arms is around 22 million lightyears distant and 93,000 lightyears across. It is unusual in having no central bulge, but there is thought to be a supermassive black hole at the centre, with about 3 million suns in mass.

This LRGB image is the result of 1h40m of remote data capture from New South Wales in April 2021, using a 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI Proline PL 16803 camera.
