NGC 2516 Diamond Cluster in Carina

This star cluster, also known as the Southern Beehive, is around 1300 lightyears distant. It is estimated to be approx 135 million years old and contains two 5th magnitude red giant stars.

This LRGB image is the result of 72 minutes of remote data capture from New South Wales, using a 17-inch Planewave CDK reflector and FLI Proline PL 16803 camera.
