Hercules Galaxy Cluster Abell 2151

This cluster consists of perhaps 200 galaxies, with around 40 of the biggest and brightest recorded in this image. It lies at a distance of around 500 million lightyears.

The cluster is rich in spiral and interacting galaxies and is unusual in not having a massive elliptical galaxy at the centre.

This image is the result of over 2.5 hours of data capture, over two evenings in May 2020.
